Welcome to The JD Investor!

You’re a lawyer and you work hard for your money.

You’re smart and you know some things about investing and money.

But then you have to pick the investments in your 401(k). A target date fund seems right. Maybe an index fund, you’ve heard those are good. Should you have some bonds? One of the funds is managed by Blackrock, you know them.

Or the guy from Northwestern Mutual comes and talks to you about a life insurance policy. He talks about tax free growth, and downside protection, and being able to borrow against the policy. You know a few other lawyers who have policies too, so it must be a good idea, right?

Or now you’re thinking about how long you can manage working so hard. Sure, you’re making a lot of money, but now you have a big mortgage, and kids to put through school. When can you retire? How much money will you need? Are you on the path to get there? How do you know?

Through my work at Juris Wealth, these are just some of topics I help my clients with.

So, how did I end up doing this?

My journey began after graduating from Harvard Law, which led to a stint at a large firm in San

Francisco during the early dot.com era. Working late at night with some junior investment bankers made me realize that I wanted what they had: a more interesting job and a better paycheck.

With no financial education, I nevertheless managed to leave the practice of law and get a job in investment banking at Goldman Sachs. I gained invaluable experience and exposure and after some years, I left in order to co-found a successful institutional fund management business.

By my mid-40s, I found myself with the flexibility to pursue what I truly wanted. After a lot of reflection, I decided I needed to use my expertise to help others with their finances.

Most of my clients are lawyers, and I understand how they think and work. I obtained my Certified Financial Planner ® designation and founded Juris Wealth within a broader asset management company.

I love my work. It brings me immense satisfaction to help my clients and their families achieve financial health, and ultimately improve their lives. My goal is to become – and remain – the lifelong trusted advisor for all things financial to every single one of my clients.
